Chrysler Pacifica Named Best Minivan to Buy for Fourth Year Running

Three Fiat-Chrysler models recently earned recognition from the online magazine The Car Connection, winning top scores in their respective categories. The most notable win was by the Chrysler Pacifica, which was named Best Minivan to Buy for the fourth year in a row. The two other winners were the Jeep® Grand Cherokee (Best SUV) and Ram 1500 (Best Truck). Both were first-time recipients of this award.

The editors of The Car Connection drove over 100 vehicles in order to choose the best on the market, rating models based on their ability to meet the wide range of needs car shoppers have. From fuel economy and safety to value and overall affordability, the editors took everything into account.

“The Chrysler Pacifica sets the bar for minivans with its flexible interior and its crisp styling,” said Martin Padgett, editorial director of Internet Brands Automotive, publishers of The Car Connection. “The unsung hero in the lineup is the plug-in hybrid, with its excellent fuel economy and forward-thinking powertrain.”

The editors also noted that the Grand Cherokee scored particularly well when it came to performance both on and off the road, including the Trailhawk and Trackhawk editions, while the Ram 1500 won because it has better capabilities than the competition. And, for the editors, there’s little point in buying a truck if it can’t tow and haul like the Ram 1500.

No matter what you’re looking for in a vehicle, you’ll find it among the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep®, and Ram lineups at Tom Kelley.

Ram 1500 Named 2020 Edmunds Top Rated Truck

At Tom Kelley CDJR, we already know the Ram 1500 is a great truck, but it’s nice to get outside recognition. The Ram 1500 was recently named the 2020 Edmunds Top Rated Truck in the Edmunds Top Rated awards, which recognize the best vehicles in the market today across seven automotive categories.

“The Ram 1500 just keeps getting better and is once again our Top Rated Truck for 2020,” said Edmunds editor-in-chief Alistair Weaver. “We still love its technology, interior build quality, ride comfort and capability, but the new EcoDiesel variant introduced this year delivers even stronger fuel economy, more torque and improved towing capability.”

For 2020, the Ram 1500 is offered with an all-new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 that produces 480 lb-ft of torque and boasts a towing capability of 12,560 pounds. That’s 14 percent more torque than the previous-generation EcoDiesel V6, and more torque and towing capacity than any other truck in the half-ton pickup segment. And thanks to the EcoDiesel’s efficiency, the truck can go more than 1,000 miles before needing a pit stop (when paired with the available 33-gallon fuel tank).

There’s no doubt the 2020 Ram 1500 is the pickup truck to have for anyone seeking the best performance available today. Explore all of its features and learn more about the amazing EcoDiesel V6 engine at Tom Kelley CDJR.

What’s New on the 2020 Challenger Design?

The 2020 Challenger design carries over many of the updates it received for the 2019 model year, but it’s also getting some exciting changes. From striking new exterior styling to new packages and trims, the Challenger is designed to impress any driver.

According to Car Buzz, there are several visual changes for 2020. For instance, there are nine new wheels and finishes, including Satin Carbon wheels and Black Boise wheels (included with the Blacktop Package). There are HEMI or Scat Pack Bee badges on R/T trim levels, depending on which you choose, as well as three new colors: Frostbite, Hellraisin, and Sinamon Stick.

The interior of the 2020 Challenger now comes with leather trim and with premium stitching, as well as optional carbon-fiber bezels and a Dynamic suede headliner. Under the hood are the same engines as you’ll find on the 2019 model year, including an available 717-horspower supercharged HEMI V8.

In terms of packages, the Challenger has Performance Handling Group, which comes with a new flat-bottom leather steering wheel, as well as a Dynamics Package and a Widebody Package for the R/T Scat Pack. On select trims, there’s a new Caramel Alcantara interior color option.

Model Options When You Downsize to a Smaller Vehicle

The kids are grown and gone, and retirement is on the horizon. Maybe it’s time to start thinking about making a move from that large van or SUV to something that fits your new lifestyle. Here are some options we recommend when you downsize to a smaller vehicle.

2019 Dodge Journey

The 2019 Dodge Journey is an affordable crossover and a great next step when transitioning from a large vehicle to a smaller one. Even though it’s smaller than other SUVs, you won’t feel cramped in the Journey with its generous head- and leg-space, as well as ample cargo space. There’s versatile in-floor storage for extra luggage and travelling equipment when you visit family.

The second- and third-row seats fold down, which gives you up to 67.6 cubic feet of space to store those must-have items from the flea market or those potted plants that were on clearance at the garden center.

2019 Dodge Challenger

If you don’t really need much space anymore, but style is a priority, consider the 2019 Dodge Challenger. This sporty car can take you on exciting rides with four-wheel drive and best-in-class horsepower through various V6 and V8 options. Enjoy your next road trip with the up-to-date technology package including Uconnect 4C NAV which offers navigation, hands-free calling and Apple CarPlay® or Android Auto™ phone integration.

2019 Dodge Charger

If you are serious about losing the soccer mom vibe, the 2019 Dodge Charger will do it for you. This is the classic American muscle car. It comes with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 Engine, but an assortment of HEMI V8s are available too.  The Charger is just as beautiful as it is powerful, with a sleek style that hugs the road. It’s definitely not a car made for large families.

The Jeep® Wrangler Black & Tan edition is brand new for 2020 and sports a number of low-gloss exterior paint colors and a distinctive tan soft top. The new trims include additional exterior features like side steps for easy access, all-terrain tires, and 17-inch Machine Granite wheels. The Black & Tan design is interwoven into the cabin of the Wrangler, too: you’ll find a sporty Wizard Black instrument panel and gorgeous Heritage Tan seats.

The Willys special edition 2020 Jeep® Wrangler – a returning favorite – captures the rugged spirit of the Jeep brand with its off-road-ready features. It utilizes 32-inch mud terrain tires from Firestone, Rubicon shocks and rail racks, and a Command-Trac 4×4 transfer case. Vehicle Body Styles: What’s the Difference?

Shopping for a new car? One of the first things you’ll need to narrow down is which type of vehicle type is right for you. These include trucks, SUV, and sedans, but there are also some basic distinctions that many car shoppers are unfamiliar with. For instance, what’s the difference between and SUV or a crossover? What distinguishes a sedan from a hatchback or coupe?

According to Car and Bike, the differences between a sedan, hatchback, and coupe has to do with space and exterior design. A hatchback often has the most cargo space, as the trunk connects to the cabin and opens upward like a liftgate (hatchbacks are often called five-door models). A sedan has four doors, and a coupe has two, though the actual distinction between the two is rear seating volume: A sedan has at least 33 cubic feet of interior space, but a coupe has less than that.

The distinction between an SUV and crossover is a little less clear, often because many manufacturers use the terms interchangeably. However, an SUV is technically built on a truck platform, with the body and chassis as separate components. A crossover has a unibody design, which means the body and chassis are connected (it’s usually a car platform, too). SUVs are more rugged, but crossovers are more efficient.

Chrysler Teams Up with Disney for a Toy Story Pacifica Promotion

The toys are back this summer with the release of Toy Story 4. To honor the return of these beloved characters, Chrysler and Pixar’s Toy Story teamed up for an ad campaign promoting the Chrysler Pacifica.

Woody, Buzz, and all their pals appear in a new Pacifica commercial. After the human passengers exit the van, the toys spring to life and engage in a spirited dance party. There are familiar faces, such as the long-lost Bo Peep, along with new additions to the franchise, such as the spork-based Forky. It’s a fun way to promote the spirit of the Pacifica minivan.

Toy Story teaming up with Chrysler to promote the Pacifica shows off the space and features that the Pacifica provides, making it the perfect family vehicle. You can watch the Toy Story Pacifica promotion on the automaker’s YouTube channel.

In Toy Story 4, Woody learns what it truly means to be a toy when his new kid, Bonnie, creates a new plaything out of arts and crafts in school. His journey will reunite him with familiar faces, while introducing some new characters.

If you’d like to see how the Chrysler Pacifica is perfect for you and your crew, bring them to Tom Kelley CDJR.

Ram Could Make a SRT-10 Successor

Pickup trucks are on the rise, and Ram is one of the brands experiencing the most growth. With so many competitors in the industry releasing different models, packages, and trims, it would seem there’s a pickup truck for everything. There is a hole in the market, however. In a place where luxury trucks and off-road trims are commonplace, track-ready performance has been overlooked. Ram might be hoping to fill that void with a Ram SRT-10 successor.

While other brands invest time and money in the off-road pickup truck segment, enthusiasts clamor for the days when more sporty, performance-oriented trucks were around for those who prefer to stay on the pavement. The Ram SRT-10 offered the same V10 engine found in the Dodge Viper and a 0-60 time of only 4.9 seconds. What better way to combine track-ready performance with pickup truck capability than to build its successor?

Right now, Ram is hard at work on the Rebel TRX, a powerful, full-size off-roader, to compete with others on the market. A closer look at the Rebel TRX could give us insight to what a Ram SRT-10 successor could be. The new truck even packs a supercharged Hellcat V8 engine under the hood. Could a street-performance pickup be getting a Hellcat engine, too? While Ram representatives won’t confirm that a new SRT-10 is coming, they won’t deny it either.

While the Rebel TRX isn’t ready to drive home with you, contact us at Tom Kelley Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Ram to earn more about the current Ram truck lineup.

Dodge Announces Two Wide-Body Charger Models

There is something about a wide body on a sports car that just gives it an aggressive, powerful look. If you have been wanting this look on a Dodge Charger, you won’t have to wait any longer. Dodge has announced two wide-body Charger models for the 2020 model year: the R/T Scat Pack and SRT Hellcat.

Dodge says the two new models have “radically redesigned” side sills and fascias in order to add the new wide-body parts. The unique models will also have retuned suspensions. A unique dual-snorkel grille with an upper intake will complete the bold, new look.

According to Motor Trend, the wide-body models will come standard with launch control and 20×11-inch wheels. Under the hood, the Scat Pack model will come with a 6.4-liter V8 rated at 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. As for the Hellcat, it has even more power with its 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that delivers 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. It’s possible there may be a 797-horsepower Redeye version available later.

The Scat Pack models will come standard with Brembo® high-performance brakes, a heavy-duty engine cooling system, and a limited-slip rear differential. The Hellcat model adds an upgraded suspension and steering system.
